The Women In Finance Charter
a pledge for gender balance across financial services
This is a commitment by HM Treasury and signatory firms to work together to build a more balanced and fair industry. Firms that sign up to this Charter are pledging to be the best businesses in the sector.
The Charter reflects the government’s aspiration to see gender balance at all levels across financial services firms. A balanced workforce is good for business – it is good for customers, for profitability and workplace culture, and is increasingly attractive for investors.
The Charter -
commits firms to supporting the progression of women into senior roles in the financial services sector by focusing on the executive pipeline and the mid-tier level;
recognises the diversity of the sector and that firms will have different starting points – each firm should therefore set its own targets and implement the right strategy for their organisation;
requires firms to publicly report on progress to deliver against these internal targets to support the transparency and accountability needed to drive change.
Hannay Investments pledges to promote gender diversity by:
having one member of our senior executive team who is responsible and accountable for gender diversity and inclusion;
setting internal targets for gender diversity in our senior management;
publishing progress annually against these targets in reports on our website;
having an intention to ensure the pay of the senior executive team is linked to delivery against these internal targets on gender diversity.
Hannay Investments is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Our registered number is 181705 which can be checked on the FCA Register by visiting www.fca.org.uk
Hannay Investments' Targets:
Senior Executives: minimum 50% female. When we signed up as a founder signatory to the Charter we had 66% female representation. As of March 2018, we have 80% female representation in senior management. We have exceeded our Charter target.
Administration: minimum 50% female.
30 years experience in the financial services industry has demonstrated to us the value of women in the financial sector. Customer facing staff are 100% female, administrative staff have been a minimum of 50% female and this has been maintained through the availability of flexible working at all levels of the organisation. We believe the provision of independent advice offers significant career opportunities both to younger women and those with families. The progression to a more holistic method of long term financial planning requires a more collaborative approach which is ideally suited to the female skill set.
There is no requirement for a salaried incentive to deliver our gender diversity targets. These targets are part of the organisation's culture. Any growth in the business will place the recruitment of women at the top of the agenda.
